Yesterday marked the release day of Tristan Flournoy’s indie pop EP, “IF THE SHOE FITS, WEAR IT.”

The title’s six words speak millions, and the rest is spilled throughout her music.

The first song titled “Keep that to yourself” sets the tone as she talks about not wanting anything to do with the person who previously hurt her, even if they’ve finally recognized their wrongdoings.

Instead, she wants the person to dwell on them, because it doesn’t seem fair to allow her ex-partner to come back just because they’re finally hurting.

You can instantly hear the anger within Flournoy’s voice as she cuts through such a tough subject in a mesmerizing way.

Speaking of, she has many more tracks that were previously released such as “tough subject” in which she expresses her hopes of being acknowledged in any way, rather than being kept a secret.

The entire EP explores the themes of self-worth, desire, empowerment after finally setting boundaries, and so much more.

It ultimately reflects the journey that individuals undergo as a result of a recent heartbreak.

Beginning with the instant irritability that consumes you, and ending with the hope of healing and moving on together, although that doesn’t always happen.

Her last track of the EP, “let’s hope i move on” speaks volumes on the idea of wanting to get past the heartbreak, but hoping that the other person doesn’t forget your name.

The desire to be remembered alongside the fear of being an afterthought.

It’s hard to believe that she will ever be considered an afterthought after the release of this EP, and I encourage you to listen to her music and take the time to surround yourself with a relatable artist like Tristan Flournoy.

Linked below is a live, acoustic version of her song “Last Girl on Earth” on YouTube that portrays her raw and soothing vocals as she conveys the feeling of wanting to be chosen, no matter how desperate it may seem.
